The additional free time is part of an incentive for the logistics sector and the port given the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak. In the circular by the Port Klang Authority (LPK), they have noted that the Movement Control Order (MCO) was enforced in Malaysia due to the pandemic outbreak. Because logistics has been categorised under the list of essential services, port movements have been operating 24/7 as usual. Echoing the effect of the pandemic and to encourage the growth of operation in Port Klang, beginning 1st July 2020 to 31st December 2020: 1. Extension of FREE TIME for FCL containers: Import
Asean - from 5 days to 7 days
Non-Asean - from 4 days to 6 days
Export
From 5 days to 7 days
2. Discount for port dues
There will be 20% discount on port dues for all vessel calls.
3. Discount on foreshore charges
There will be 20% discount on foreshore charges to Importers and Exporters handling
cargo through private jetties.
It is certainly a favourable news for us and our clients - both importers and exporters. With the extension of free time, we have greater degree of flexibility to arrange our shipments and deliveries.
